CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - CHRIS HANI DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY COMMUNITY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FUND
The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Wongama Gela invites Grade 12 learners to apply for the Chris Hani District Municipality Community Skills Development Fund. The funding is intended for learners who have been accepted for study in any South African public University or University of Technology. The following fields will be considered:
Engineering
Diploma or BSc Environmental/Mechanical/Civil//Electrical
Agriculture
Diploma or BSc. Agronomy / Crop science/Horticulture/Animal Science/Pasture Science/Analytical Chemistry/Soil science
Mining
Diploma or BSc in Mining/Geology
Waste Management
Diploma or BSc Environmental science
Information technology
Diploma or BSc Information technology and information Systems/Computer Science/Information Science/Systems of Network Administration/Software Engineering/Computer Engineering/Cyber Security
All interested young people who have received acceptance letter from the university to further their studies are requested to submit applications for consideration for financial assistance for the 2021 academic year.
Application Process:
Application forms are available from the Chris Hani Development Agency, 15 Warner Street, Southbourne, Queenstown, or can be downloaded from our website at www.chda.org.za. All forms to be submitted with a motivational letter and the required supporting documentation: certified ID copy and unabridged birth certificate, proof of residence / letter from Ward Councillor confirming residence, proof of financial need (bank statement, affidavit, etc.), certified final Grade 12 results, certified ID copies of both parents / guardians, proof of acceptance at a tertiary institution.
*Applicants should note that this opportunity is available ONLY to the residents of the Chris Hani District Municipality and therefore a letter from a Ward Councilor confirming residency is required.
Submission Process:
Applications to be submitted by email to recruitment@chda.org.za, submitted to Skills Development Facilitator from the Local Municipal Offices / hand delivered to Chris Hani Development Agency at 15 Warner Street, Southbourne Queenstown on or before Tuesday 31 March 2021, 12:00pm.
The students eligible for assistance must meet the following criteria:
- Must be residents of the Chris Hani District Municipality, this means they must reside in one of the local municipalities that make up the CHDM (Emalahleni, Engcobo, Intsika Yethu, Sakhisizwe, Enoch Mgijima and Inxuba Yethemba)
- Mus have passed Grade 12 and be accepted in tertiary institutions within South Africa.
- Must maintain a performance averaging 60% and above in Grade 12 studies.
- Must come from the previously disadvantaged communities of the CHDM. They must be financially needy and their families should prove that they cannot afford tertiary education. The total monthly income for both parents should not exceed R15 000.00.
- The fields of study must be within those stipulated above.
- The prospective student must be committed to serve the CHDM for the period equivalent to the duration of the course of study if required to do so.
